Teaching Research Data Management with the New England Collaborative Data Management Curriculum: Instructors

This one day class using the NE Collaborative Data Management Curriculum is intended for librarians who are interested in teaching faculty and students concepts and best practices for research data management.

Elaine Martin, D.A.: Workshop Instructor

Elaine Martin, D.A., is the Director of Library Services at the Lamar Soutter Library at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Director of the National Networks of Libraries of Medicine New England Region (NN/LM NER). Dr. Martin has initiated a series of educational programs designed to advance e-Science librarianship and provide professional development opportunities for New England librarians engaging in data management and e-Science services at their institutions.  In 2010, Dr. Martin lead an IMLS grant to develop Frameworks for a Data Management Curriculum, a joint project between the Lamar Soutter Library at UMass Medical School and the George C. Gordon Library at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Building upon the Frameworks, Dr. Martin lead a consortia of library partners from UMass Medical School, Tufts University, Northeastern University and the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute to develop the New England Collaborative Data Management Curriculum. This seven module curriculum addresses key components of the National Science Foundation's Data Management Plan requirements and incorporates a collection of research cases from diverse scientific, medical and engineering research contexts to illustrate data management concepts and best practices to a broad audience of science, health sciences and engineering students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Regina Raboin, MSLIS: Webinar Presenter

Regina Raboin, Science Librarian and Data Management Services Coordinator at the Tisch Library, Tufts University presents an overview of research data management, the research data lifecycle, funders' requirements for data management plans, and Regina's experiences as a member of Tisch Library's Digital Assets Management team, partnering with researchers to write data management plans. Regina is a partner in the New England Collaborative Data Management Curriculum project, and she serves as the Advisory Chair for the New England e-Science professional development program for Librarians.
