Correctional Health Care

Hello, JCOIN scholars and investigators! This guide has been designed to help you find the information that you need to conduct your research.  If you would like help with your literature searches, want an article or book the library does not have, or have any other questions, please reach out to me at rebecca.drouhard@umassmed.edu.

If there's a resource you know of or come across that you would like shared here with your peers and future JCOIN participants, just let me know and I am happy to add it to the guide.

Below you'll find a few resources that deal specifically with correctional health as well as resources for finding literature focused on criminal justice and addiction medicine.

Criminal Justice Literature

  • National Criminal Justice Reference Service: One of the largest criminal and juvenile justice libraries and databases in the world with holdings from the early 1970s to the present from the United States and around the world. These resources include statistics, research findings, program descriptions, congressional hearing transcripts, and training materials.  Use the Topical Index to find statistics on a variety of topics.

  • Criminal Justice Research NetworkA repository for preprints and international journals devoted to the rapid dissemination of scholarly research in the social sciences and humanities and more.

Addiction Literature

  • PubMed: A free research engine that houses more than 35 million citations from the biomedical literature, life science journals, and online books.
