The idea for this Disability Resource Guide is from the printed Resource Guide developed by former staff of the Family Health Supporters in Pediatrics at UMass Children’s Medical Center.
The guide is a compilation of information from years of dedication, hard work and experience which encompasses information of support, community service, and resources for caregivers and families of children with disabilities and/or special health care needs.
The intention of this Library Guide is to be a resource to help healthcare professionals and caregivers better understand and advocate; be aware of support systems, and be informed of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and school issues. Some families may need financial aid, and some may need assistance with daily living skills, speech and or occupational therapy.
The content is offered for informational purposes and should not be construed as medical advice or relied upon for diagnosis or treatment; talk to and seek support from your child's doctors, teachers and other professionals. Listing of agencies and/or providers is based upon the quality of information available and is not an endorsement of any particular service.
