Borrowing through Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) for Public Health Digital Library (PHDL) patrons
Free articles or book chapters that are not part of the PHDL can be requested through LSL’s Interlibrary Loan by the following PHDL members:

Association of State & Territorial Health Officials

CA Dept. of Healthcare Services (DHCS)
Local Public Health Departments
Massachusetts Health Policy Commission

Instructions for ordering articles:
Create an account in ILLiad as a first-time user:
Go to ILLiad and select First Time User
Library Barcode Number = LastNameFirstInitial (i.e. DoeJ)
Fill out the rest of the form, making sure all required fields are filled
Status = Select your public health department
Department = Select your public health department
Username = LastNameFirstInitial (i.e., DoeJ)
Choose a password
Click Submit Information
Add Account:
Account Number: Type your public health department
Leave all other fields blank
Click Add Account
Now you are ready to request ILL articles, books, or book chapters!
To place a request:
Starting in the PHDL, search for your article using PubMed or the Citation Matcher. If the article is not in the PHDL, you will go to your department’s document delivery page. Fill out the requested fields in the form and hit send.
This will bring you to the LSL ILLiad page.
Log in
The new request form will be pre-populated with your citation information and your personal information
Choose electronic delivery
Status and Department fields: choose your public health department
Click Submit Request
To retrieve a filled request:
You will receive an email when the request has been filled prompting you to log into ILLiad
Once you are logged into ILLiad: Under Active Requests in the menu bar, click the View/Download Electronically Received Items dropdown
Download and save file to your preferred location (Note: the file remains available in ILLiad for thirty (30) days, after which it is no longer accessible in ILLiad)
