A Proxy Service allows you to access electronic resources that the Lamar Soutter Library subscribes to while off-campus.
Who Has Access:
Preceptors must apply for faculty status in order to be eligible for proxy access. Preceptors should contact the Office of Medical Education to expedite the process. If a faculty member is working with non-UMass Chan students on a rotation, those students are eligible for proxy access for the length of their rotation.
How to Request Access: If you are eligible, you must apply for a Library Account online or at the Library Service Point in order to utilize the proxy service.
How to Use the Proxy Service (When Off-Campus):
1. Begin your search at the library's website: https://library.umassmed.edu
2. Search for a resource using the search box on the home page, or select a database.
3. Authenticate via Proxy Service: If you select a resource that is restricted to on-campus use, a screen will appear asking if you have a umassmed.edu email account.
4. You will be redirected to the resource you have selected.
Remember! When on UMass Chan's campus, you will not login to Proxy.
Any Questions? Please submit an Ask a Librarian or contact the Library Service Point at 508-856-6099 or Lamar_Soutter_Library@umassmed.edu
VPN is not a reliable way to access library resources. Please try accessing library resources from the library website using the Proxy instructions above.
VPN service is managed by Information Technology (IT) department at UMass Chan Medical School. They give complete instructions on the UMass Chan website, including system requirements and login instructions.
