Library Service Point: Borrowing

Eligibility

  • UMass Chan faculty, staff, and students; UMass Chan-Baystate faculty, residents, and fellows
    • Full borrowing access to our collections
    • Including laptop borrowing
    • Proxy Access to online resources from home
  • UMMHC staff
    • Full borrowing access to our collections
    • Including laptop borrowing
  • Retired UMass Chan faculty
    • Full borrowing access to our collections (not laptops)

  • Healthcare professionals
    • Physicians or other health care professionals licensed, accredited, or certified to perform specified health services consistent with State law, can purchase a library barcode for $50/year.
      • Book borrowing only
  • Corporate accounts
    • Available to companies for $350/year.
      • Book borrowing only
  • Public patrons
    • Eligible for a free library barcode that will allow two books from the Consumer Health collection to be borrowed at one time.

Library Barcode 

UMass Chan/UMMHC faculty, staff, and students should click below to sign up to request a library barcode. Other users should call the Library at 508-856-6099 for instructions. Upon completing and submitting this application, Library staff will verify your eligibility and assign a barcode. Your barcode number will be sent to you at the email address you have provided. Processing time could take up to 1 business day.

Museum Passes

The library has passes for free or reduced admission to local museums. UMass Chan students, staff, faculty, and residents can check out one pass at a time with their library barcode. Passes are available to:

  • EcoTarium (Worcester, MA)
    • Admits up to two adults and two children in one vehicle for half price. Children under two are free. (The library has about 75 one-time use passes)
  • The Museum of Russian Icons (Clinton, MA)
    • Admits up to six people free of charge.  (The library has six passes)
  • New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill (Boylston, MA)
    • Admits two guests at half price.  Children three and under are free. (The library has four passes)
    • Here is the process for checking out a Tower Hill Pass:
      1. Come in person and check out the membership card.  Each card admits two guests at half price.  
      2. Make the reservation using the given access code.
      3. Bring the membership card to your reserved time at Tower Hill.
      4. Return the membership card to the Library Service Point after your visit.

  • Worcester Art Museum (Worcester, MA)
    • Admits two adults free of charge. Children 17 and under are free of charge. (The library has four passes)

The passes are available from the library service desk on a first come, first-serve basis and are checked out for two days. Please visit each museum’s website for the latest admission information and policies.
